Friday, October 2, 2026 - A sexual assault case against Mike Smith, best known for playing Bubbles on Trailer Park Boys, has been dismissed by a Nova Scotia provincial court.
Smith had been charged in October 2025 over an alleged 2017 incident and pleaded not guilty. The three-day trial was due to begin on October 1, 2026, but Crown prosecutors told the court they would present no evidence.
Judge Jill Hartlen subsequently dismissed the case after the Crown said its assessment determined that the prosecution standard was no longer met. Crown prosecutor Bryson McDonald declined to discuss the specific evidence or prosecutorial decision.
The complainant, whose identity is protected by a publication ban, said she chose not to proceed with testimony because of the emotional toll of the trial.
Following the dismissal, Smith's lawyer said the actor was pleased the matter was over and wanted to move forward. Trailer Park Boys Incorporated also confirmed that Smith would resume his responsibilities with the company, where he had stepped away from his role while the legal proceedings were ongoing.
