Friday, October 2, 2026 - Bill Nighy has added another major achievement to his growing podcast career, winning Best Host at the 2026 British Podcast Awards for his weekly podcast ill-advised.
The 76-year-old actor received the award at the ceremony held at Indigo at The O2 in Greenwich, London, on October 1.
Nighy’s ill-advised sees him take on the role of an unconventional agony uncle, offering listeners advice while discussing life, music and books. He was among a strong shortlist that included Louis Theroux, Katherine Ryan, Lily Allen and Edith Bowman.
The British Podcast Awards described the series as an “irresistibly endearing” addition to the podcast landscape.
The win highlights the continued expansion of Nighy’s work beyond film and television and puts ill-advised firmly in the spotlight.
The 2026 awards also recognised podcasts across entertainment, news, sport, business and lifestyle, underlining the growing range of British podcasting and its increasingly prominent place in the media industry.
