Singer LOLA YOUNG says vaping has made breathing feel like a 'chore'

Thursday, October 1, 2026 - Singer Lola Young has opened up about the impact vaping is having on her breathing, telling followers that simply breathing now feels like a “chore.”

In a recent TikTok video, the 25-year-old Grammy winner said her lungs feel “battery powered” and admitted she is experiencing the effects of vaping that she was once warned about. Young, who has previously acknowledged that she “should quit,” suggested she is not ready to give up the habit anytime soon.

Young described breathing as hard work and said she feels as though she should be paid simply for breathing. Her comments have sparked concern among fans, particularly because of the potential impact on her voice and career as a performer.

Vocal coach Lizzii Hills said vaping can affect the lungs, airways and throat, potentially making it harder for singers to control their breathing and maintain efficient vocal technique.

The comments come as fresh research continues to raise concerns about the health effects of vaping. A recent review of more than 80 studies linked vaping with higher rates of breathing problems, including coughing and wheezing.

Young returned to the stage earlier this year after taking time away for her health, making her latest comments especially notable as fans continue to follow her recovery and career. Despite describing the difficulties she is experiencing, Young has indicated that she does not currently plan to quit vaping.
