British actor breaks his silence on that threesome with sisters

Thursday, October 1, 2026 - British actor Orlando Bloom has addressed one of the most talked-about scenes in his new film Bucking Fastard, in which he shares an intimate scene with real-life sisters Rooney Mara and Kate Mara.

Speaking at the San Sebastián Film Festival, Bloom described the moment as sincere and rooted in the characters’ desires, rather than simply designed to shock audiences.

Bloom plays Gareth Mulroney, a man who becomes romantically involved with sisters Joan and Jean Holbrooke, played by Rooney and Kate Mara. The sisters are portrayed as unusually close, speaking in unison and sharing an intense connection before both falling for Bloom’s character.

The film, directed by Werner Herzog, premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 3, 2026, and has already generated strong online discussion around the controversial premise.

The renewed attention puts Bucking Fastard firmly in the spotlight as audiences wait to see how the provocative storyline plays out.

Bloom has also praised his experience working with the Mara sisters, while Herzog has emphasized the emotional depth of the scene rather than treating it purely as spectacle. With the film continuing its festival run, the unusual on-screen relationship is likely to remain a major talking point.
