Thursday, October 1, 2026 - A Dublin man and woman have been charged with perjury over sworn statements submitted during Conor McGregor’s failed appeal against a civil court finding involving Nikita Hand.
Samantha O’Reilly, 38, and Steven Cummins, 39, appeared before Dublin District Court after an investigation by Ireland’s National Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Prosecutors allege that the pair knowingly made false statements in judicial proceedings. O’Reilly faces two charges relating to statements made in January and May 2025, while Cummins faces one charge relating to January 2025.
The allegations relate to affidavits the couple provided as potential fresh evidence for McGregor’s appeal. O’Reilly claimed she had witnessed a physical confrontation involving Hand and her then-partner, while Cummins said he heard screaming and shouting from Hand’s home.
McGregor’s legal team sought to use the evidence as an alternative explanation for bruising that Hand said resulted from the alleged assault. The evidence was withdrawn shortly before the appeal began, and the Court of Appeal later dismissed McGregor’s appeal.
Both O’Reilly and Cummins were granted bail with conditions, including weekly reporting to a Garda station and restrictions on contact with witnesses. Ireland’s Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that the pair face trial on indictment in the Circuit Criminal Court, where the perjury charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years if convicted.
They are due back before Dublin District Court on November 9, when prosecutors are expected to begin serving the book of evidence. The charges are allegations, and both defendants remain entitled to the presumption of innocence.
