Wimbledon takes action against influencers after constantly disrupting tennis pros at US Open

Tuesday, September 8, 2026 -  Wimbledon is taking a tougher approach to influencers after content creators caused controversy and disrupted play at this year’s US Open.

The All England Club has confirmed it will not introduce a dedicated accreditation category for influencers and content creators at the 2027 tournament, drawing a clear line after several incidents at Flushing Meadows.

The move comes as tennis organizers face growing pressure to balance social media engagement with the need to protect players and spectators from distractions.

The US Open expanded its creator accreditation programme to almost 100 influencers this year, but the strategy quickly faced criticism after disruptive behaviour was reported during matches.

Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula were among the players to address concerns about noise, filming and bright lighting. In one widely discussed incident, a group of creators disrupted Osaka’s match while recording content, prompting officials to intervene.
