Wrexham band celebrate debut album launch with packed hometown gig

Monday, October 19, 2026 - Welsh indie-pop band Baby Brave have celebrated a major career milestone after launching their debut album, Sugar to the Tongue, with a packed hometown gig in Wrexham. The performance took place at The Rockin’ Chair on October 9, bringing together music fans for an energetic night of live music and celebration.

Released earlier in the month, the album marks the culmination of three years of work for the band, whose distinctive sound blends infectious pop melodies, disco rhythms, post-punk guitars and psychedelia. The enthusiastic turnout highlighted the growing support for original music in Wrexham.

Fronted by singer and guitarist Emmi Manteau, Baby Brave were joined by three other local acts: Groom The Giant, Fleece and Roadside Assistance. The diverse line-up transformed the event into a celebration of the city’s independent music scene, with audiences dancing, cheering and enjoying performances late into the evening.

Manteau described the occasion as “one huge, mad family celebration”, saying the support from fellow musicians and fans had been deeply moving. The band’s growing profile has also attracted national attention, with their single Cherry Tomato receiving BBC Radio Wales A-list support and airplay from BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio X.

The successful launch represents an important step forward for Baby Brave as they seek to reach wider audiences beyond their hometown. Their debut album is available through the band’s website and Bandcamp, with physical copies also available locally at Revibed Records in Wrexham.

The event has further demonstrated how independent venues, local promoters and musicians can work together to create opportunities for emerging talent. With strong audience support and growing radio recognition, Baby Brave are building momentum at a crucial stage in their career. Their packed hometown celebration sends a clear message: Wrexham’s grassroots music scene is thriving, and its artists are ready to be heard far beyond North Wales.
