Hussain shared a video by therapist Megan Cooper, who described Sheeran’s tears as an example of “white tears” and argued that his emotions could shift attention away from the wider issue.
The dispute follows Sheeran’s emotional appearance at his Philadelphia concert, where he acknowledged making difficult decisions and apologized while addressing the backlash.
The controversy began after Macklemore made pro-Palestinian comments during performances and was subsequently removed from the tour. Several other acts also withdrew, intensifying the public debate around the decision.
Clarkson challenged Hussain’s characterization in his latest column, questioning what she meant by “white tears” and criticizing the broader reaction to Sheeran’s apology.
Hussain did not add a comment when sharing Cooper’s video, while The Standard reported that representatives for both Hussain and Sheeran were contacted for comment.
