Sunday, September 27, 2026 - After 15 years of marriage, Princess Kate and Prince William’s relationship continues to attract attention, with royal expert Ingrid Seward pointing to one key foundation: they were close friends before becoming a couple.
Speaking on HELLO!’s A Right Royal Podcast, Seward said Kate was someone William could talk to, listen to and seek advice from during their university years.
That friendship appears to have given their relationship a strong foundation beyond romance. Seward recalled how Kate served as a sounding board for William, even encouraging him to reconsider his university course when he was unhappy studying History of Art.
He eventually switched to Geography, highlighting the level of trust and openness that existed between them.
