Monday, October 19, 2026 - TV chef Jack Stein has announced that he is expecting a baby with his new partner, Sophie, in a surprise personal update that has attracted widespread attention. The son of celebrity chef Rick Stein shared the news on social media over the weekend, posting a photograph of the couple alongside their dog, with Sophie holding an ultrasound scan.
Jack captioned the image: “One more at the table. April 2027,” confirming that their baby is expected in April next year. The announcement has prompted an outpouring of congratulations from fans and celebrity friends, turning the couple’s happy news into a major talking point.
The pregnancy announcement comes amid reports that Jack has separated from his wife, artist Lucy Musca, whom he married in Cornwall in July 2022. The former couple share two children, a son and a daughter, and have generally kept their family life away from the spotlight.
Jack has not publicly explained the circumstances of the reported separation, and neither party has provided a detailed public account of the relationship’s end. Reports that Lucy has returned to using her maiden name have added to speculation, but the reasons behind the split remain private. The focus has now shifted to Jack’s new relationship and the arrival of their baby next year.
Jack is a familiar face to television audiences through appearances on Saturday Kitchen and Cooking with the Stars, while also working as a chef director within his family’s restaurant business. He has built a career that combines television, professional cooking and cookbook writing, following in the footsteps of his famous father.
The latest announcement marks a new chapter in his personal life, with friends including Maura Higgins and Scarlett Moffatt among those reported to have sent congratulations. As the family prepares for the baby’s expected arrival in April 2027, Jack’s announcement continues to generate interest, although details surrounding his reported separation remain unconfirmed publicly.
