TRUMP orders firing squad for NIDAL MALIK HASAN who killed 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas

Tuesday, October 6, 2026 - President Donald Trump has approved the execution of former U.S. Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan by firing squad, following a recommendation from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Hasan was convicted and sentenced to death in 2013 for the 2009 Fort Hood shooting in Texas, in which 13 people were killed and 32 wounded. The Pentagon says the Secretary of the Army will now determine the time and place of the execution.

The decision immediately puts Hasan’s case back in the national spotlight because a military execution has not been carried out since 1961. If the sentence proceeds, it would also represent an exceptionally rare use of a firing squad by the U.S. military.

Hasan’s conviction followed a military trial in which he was found guilty of premeditated murder and other offenses connected to the attack.

The next major development will be the Army’s decision on the execution date and location, while legal avenues could still affect the timeline.

Trump’s approval comes as the United States faces renewed debate over capital punishment and execution methods, making Hasan’s case one of the most closely watched military justice developments in the country right now.
