PIERS MORGAN leaks proof he’s suing EARL SPENCER after ‘egregious lies’ in book

Thursday, October 1, 2026 - Piers Morgan has published legal correspondence that he says proves he is pursuing legal action against Earl Spencer over claims made about him in Spencer’s new memoir, Swan Song: My Sister, My Family and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Morgan shared the documents after Spencer denied that he was being sued during a book event in New York. The dispute centres on claims that Morgan was involved in the publication of intrusive photographs of Princess Diana in 1993, although Morgan has pointed out that he was working for The Sun at the time and did not join the Daily Mirror until 1995.

Spencer has since apologised for the error concerning Morgan’s employment, acknowledging that his assumption about Morgan’s involvement with the photographs was incorrect. However, Morgan has rejected the apology as insufficient and says the disputed claims remain in the book.

He has also challenged Spencer’s description of a telephone conversation between the two, disputing the suggestion that he was “surly and annoyed” when Spencer contacted him about Diana’s funeral.

The dispute escalated on September 30 when Morgan responded to Spencer’s reported denial by saying he would release their legal correspondence. His legal team is seeking action over what it describes as false and damaging claims, with Morgan previously saying he wants the disputed material removed and damages directed to the King’s Trust.

The legal row now adds another major confrontation surrounding Spencer’s memoir, which has already attracted intense attention over its claims about Diana, the Royal Family and events following her death.
