ZOE BALL praises KEN BRUCE as she opens new Greatest Hits Radio afternoon show

Tuesday, September 8, 2026 - Zoe Ball has made her highly anticipated return to weekday radio, launching Zoe Ball in the Afternoon on Greatest Hits Radio.

The presenter opened her first show on Monday, September 7, with an upbeat message to listeners and praised fellow broadcaster Ken Bruce, who now sits alongside her in the station’s daytime schedule. Ball said she was thrilled to be his “radio neighbour once again” as she began her new weekday slot from 1pm to 4pm.

The launch marks a major new chapter for Ball after her departure from BBC Radio 2. She kicked off the programme with I’ve Got the Music in Me by The Kiki Dee Band, choosing the energetic track after listeners had spent the weekend guessing what song would open the show.

Her afternoon programme will feature music from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, alongside listener interaction, guests and regular features designed to build a strong connection with the Greatest Hits Radio audience.

Ball’s arrival also strengthens an already high-profile daytime line-up, with Ken Bruce hosting the preceding show before Simon Mayo takes over at 4pm. With millions of listeners tuning into Greatest Hits Radio each week, the pressure is now on Ball to turn the excitement surrounding her return into a lasting success.

Her first broadcast has already created significant attention, and the coming weeks will show whether her familiar energy can translate into a powerful new audience for the station.
