Uganda names journalist as successor to world's youngest king




Monday, September 14, 2026 - Uganda has named a journalist as the successor to the late king of the Rwenzururu Kingdom, ending days of uncertainty over who would take over the traditional leadership. 

The announcement comes after the king’s burial and amid intense public interest in the future of the kingdom.


The new successor is expected to assume the responsibilities of the cultural institution while efforts continue to manage tensions surrounding the royal succession.
