Iranian forces arrest 21 Arabs, including two minors

Monday, September 14, 2026 - Iranian security forces have arrested 21 Arab residents, including two minors, in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, according to rights groups.

The arrests reportedly took place during security operations in several locations, raising fresh concerns about the treatment of members of Iran’s Arab minority.

The detainees are reportedly from communities in and around Ahvaz and were taken into custody without publicly disclosed details about the charges against them.

Rights organizations say families have been left seeking information about the whereabouts and legal status of those detained, while concerns remain over access to lawyers and due process.

The arrests add to wider concerns over security pressure on minority communities in Iran. Rights advocates are calling for authorities to disclose the reasons for the detentions, protect the rights of the detainees and ensure that minors receive appropriate legal safeguards as investigations continue.
