Monday, September 7, 2026 - Two people have died during Burning Man 2026, with the festival confirming separate deaths as the annual gathering in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert approaches its conclusion.
The latest victim was identified as Craigh Mann, 60, who was found dead by campmates at around 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 5. Organizers have not disclosed his cause of death.
The second death involved a man in his mid-50s who suffered a medical emergency earlier in the week. Emergency personnel attempted lifesaving measures before transporting him to the festival’s onsite emergency care center, where he was pronounced dead.
His identity has not been released, and authorities have not yet established the causes of either death.
The deaths come as Burning Man 2026 faces other challenges, including heavy rain that turned sections of the desert into mud and disrupted movement around the event.
The festival, which began on August 30 and is scheduled to end today, September 7, has drawn tens of thousands of participants to temporary Black Rock City. Organizers have expressed condolences to the families, friends and campmates affected by the two fatalities.
