Wednesday, September 23, 2026 - Matthew McConaughey has revealed that his long-running friendship with Woody Harrelson has occasionally turned physical, with arguments between the two actors leaving one of them bleeding.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly while promoting their new Apple TV series Brothers, McConaughey said there have been no broken bones, but “blood has been drawn.”
Harrelson added that their clashes have resulted in injuries including a chipped tooth and a cracked lip. McConaughey recalled one incident in which Harrelson allegedly “overswung” and caught him in the jaw, while Harrelson maintained that their physical confrontations have gone both ways.
Despite the clashes, Harrelson said the pair ultimately make peace, emphasizing that they care deeply about each other.
The revelations arrive as the two stars reunite for Brothers, an eight-episode Apple TV comedy in which they play fictionalized versions of themselves.
The series premieres globally today, September 23, with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases. Their latest disclosures are already adding a real-life edge to a show built around their famously unpredictable friendship.
