Wednesday, September 23, 2026 - John Torode has revealed that he no longer speaks to his former MasterChef co-presenter Gregg Wallace, saying their relationship was always largely professional.
In a recent interview, Torode said the pair did not remain in contact when they were not filming together, adding that there was no reason for that to change after their departures from the programme.
The revelation comes after a turbulent period for MasterChef. Wallace was dismissed from the BBC programme in July 2025 after an independent review substantiated 45 of 83 allegations of misconduct.
Torode subsequently left the franchise after an allegation concerning racist language was upheld; he said at the time that he had no recollection of the incident and did not believe it happened.
Torode has since turned his attention to new projects, including a YouTube cooking channel with his wife, Lisa Faulkner.
He has also spoken about how difficult his departure from MasterChef was, describing the news as a shock and saying he was devastated after putting years of work into the programme. Meanwhile, the BBC series continues with Grace Dent and Anna Haugh as its new presenting team.
