Friday, September 24, 2026 - Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has paid tribute to New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert, who died on September 20 at age 45 following a prolonged battle with cancer.
In a statement shared on Instagram Stories on September 23, Williams said she had initially been unsure whether it was appropriate to speak publicly, but ultimately felt compelled to acknowledge the impact Gilbert had on her life.
Williams remembered Gilbert as an important figure in the pop-punk and hardcore community, saying her time connected to him introduced her to people, music and culture that continued to enrich her life.
She also credited his influence and attitude with helping move the genre forward, while highlighting his commitment to building and supporting the music community.
Gilbert's death has prompted tributes across the rock and pop-punk world, with New Found Glory and fellow musicians remembering his contribution to the scene.
Williams closed her message by expressing gratitude for what she learned from him and sending love and sympathy to his family, New Found Glory and his friends.
