Monday, August 10, 2026 - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a US-backed 15-point plan aimed at ending the Gaza conflict, saying Israeli forces will not withdraw until Hamas is fully disarmed.
The rejection marks a significant public disagreement with President Donald Trump, whose administration has promoted the proposal as a path toward ending the fighting and establishing a new governing arrangement for Gaza.
Netanyahu said Israel would not accept a symbolic or partial disarmament of Hamas, insisting that all weapons must be surrendered before any military withdrawal.
The Trump-backed proposal calls for Hamas to give up its weapons and eventually transfer control of Gaza to an independent Palestinian governing body, while Israeli forces would withdraw in stages.
