Friday, August 21, 2026 - A deadly sword attack at a high school in central Sweden has left one person dead and three others injured, including two teenagers who remain seriously hurt. The attack happened Friday afternoon at Brinell High School in Fagersta, where hundreds of students were attending classes.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man after responding to reports of violence at the school. Officers fired shots during the arrest, and the suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of murder. Authorities say there is currently no indication that multiple attackers were involved, while the motive remains under investigation.

The incident triggered a major emergency response and lockdowns at nearby schools as authorities worked to secure the area and protect students. Investigators are now examining evidence and interviewing witnesses as the Fagersta community faces the immediate impact of another shocking act of violence in a school setting.
