Friday, August 21, 2026 - Russian strikes across Ukraine killed at least 19 people and injured more than 130 on Friday, in another deadly escalation of the war.
The heaviest casualties were reported in Kryvyi Rih, where drones struck a busy shopping centre, killing at least 15 people and injuring about 130, including children.
The attack on the shopping centre came in two waves, with Ukrainian officials describing the second strike as targeting emergency responders who had arrived after the initial blast.
At least 22 children were among those injured, while dozens of victims were reported to be in serious condition. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack and called for international accountability.
The strikes highlight the growing danger facing civilians as Russian aerial attacks intensify across Ukraine.
With emergency teams still responding to the destruction and casualties continuing to be assessed, authorities are warning residents to remain alert as the threat of further attacks remains high.
