US launches attacks on several targets in Iran, CENTCOM says

Thursday, June 11, 2026- The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that U.S. forces carried out a new series of strikes on multiple targets inside Iran, escalating an already volatile regional confrontation.

Officials described the operation as a continuation of “self-defense strikes,” targeting military infrastructure believed to be linked to threats against U.S. personnel and allied maritime operations in the region.

According to CENTCOM statements, the latest attacks focused on Iranian air defense systems, surveillance networks, and command-and-control facilities.

The military said the objective was to reduce operational capabilities used in recent incidents involving attacks or attempted strikes against U.S. forces and commercial shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz area. No immediate confirmation of Iranian casualties or damage assessments has been independently verified.

The escalation highlights the rapidly intensifying cycle of action and retaliation between Washington and Tehran. U.S. officials maintain the strikes are defensive and proportional, while Iranian authorities have previously warned of severe consequences for continued attacks.

With tensions already elevated across the Gulf, the latest developments raise concerns about broader regional instability and the risk of further escalation.
