Wednesday, June 10, 2026- Russian authorities are investigating two car bomb explosions that rocked Moscow on Tuesday, in a troubling escalation of security incidents in the Russian capital.
One of the devices exploded in eastern Moscow and killed the driver, while the second device was discovered and safely defused by security services in southwestern Moscow.
Investigators say they have arrested two teenagers believed to be involved in planting the bomb in the southwestern incident.
According to the Russian state Investigative Committee, a teenage girl was reportedly instructed by unidentified individuals to retrieve an explosive device and hand it to a teenage boy, who then attached it to the targeted vehicle with a GPS tracker; both suspects have now been charged.
The deadly blast in eastern Moscow is still under investigation, and no arrests have yet been confirmed in that case. The Kremlin has acknowledged the explosions but is withholding further details while security services continue their inquiries.
These incidents come amidst a broader backdrop of violent attacks linked to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, where Ukrainian military intelligence has previously claimed responsibility for targeted strikes against Russian officials.
