72 arrested at London protest supporting Palestine Action activists

Friday, June 12, 2026- Police in London have arrested 72 people during a protest in support of activists linked to Palestine Action, as demonstrations over the group’s activities continue to draw large crowds and heightened security responses.

The protest took place in central London, where demonstrators gathered despite warnings from authorities about public order restrictions tied to the organization’s status.

The Metropolitan Police said arrests were made for a range of alleged offenses, including breaches of protest conditions and suspected support for a proscribed organization. Officers moved in after crowds failed to disperse, leading to tense scenes as chants and placards called for the release of detained activists.

Organizers of the demonstration argue the arrests represent an overreach and say the protest was intended to raise awareness of political and humanitarian concerns.

The incident adds to ongoing debate in the UK over the limits of protest and the legal boundaries surrounding activism related to the Israel–Gaza conflict.

Authorities maintain that enforcement actions are necessary to uphold public order and national security laws, while civil liberties groups warn that expanding restrictions risk chilling lawful dissent. The situation is likely to keep pressure on both police and lawmakers as demonstrations continue across major UK cities.
