TRUMP says he is reviewing Iran's new offer but doubts it is 'acceptable'

Monday, May 4, 2026-President Donald Trump said he is currently reviewing a new diplomatic proposal from Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, but expressed deep skepticism that the plan will meet U.S. demands or lead to a breakthrough agreement.

Speaking to reporters and in a social media post, Trump indicated that while the proposal is under consideration, he does not believe Tehran has done enough to justify a deal at this stage.

Trump’s comments suggest continued hardline positioning in the negotiations, as he argued that Iran has not “paid a big enough price” for past actions and implied that previous offers were also rejected for being insufficient.

He confirmed that officials are reviewing the details of the latest Iranian submission, which reportedly includes a broader peace framework delivered through intermediaries.

The remarks come at a tense moment in U.S.-Iran relations, with Washington weighing diplomatic engagement alongside military and economic pressure.

While the White House has not ruled out continued talks, Trump’s public doubts highlight the fragility of the process and signal that any potential agreement remains uncertain as both sides maintain sharply different expectations for a resolution.
