At least two members of Quetta’s Hazara community killed in firing incident

Monday, April 13, 2026-At least two members of the Hazara community have been killed and three others injured after armed attackers opened fire in Quetta, Pakistan, in what authorities describe as a targeted shooting incident.

The attack took place in the Hazarganji area, where victims were reportedly traveling when gunmen on motorcycles opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Police say the assailants struck quickly and escaped, leaving local security forces to cordon off the area and transfer the victims to hospital. The injured are currently receiving treatment, with at least one reported to be in critical condition. Officials have launched an investigation, though no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Hazara community in Quetta has long been vulnerable to sectarian and targeted violence, with similar attacks reported repeatedly over the years in the region. Rights groups and local observers continue to warn about persistent security gaps despite ongoing operations, as families once again mourn victims of another deadly assault in the city.
