TRUMP says he’s fixing affordability problems. He’ll test out that message at a rally

Wednesday, December 10, 2025 -
President Donald J. Trump is shifting his message on the economy to focus on “affordability,” and he plans to test this narrative at a rally in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania.

The rally is seen as a trial balloon for his economic pitch — moving it from speeches in the White House and social media to a campaign-style event. This comes at a time when polling shows public trust in his economic leadership has weakened.

Trump continues to blame his predecessor for inflation, even though critics say his own policies — especially sweeping tariff increases introduced in April — contributed to the spike in prices. Despite this, the president insists inflation has subsided, asserting that his administration is bringing “prices way down.”

The choice of rally location is no accident. Monroe County, within the district he’s visiting, switched from backing the previous president in 2020 to voting for Trump in 2024, helping him reclaim Pennsylvania, a crucial swing state. The rally could offer an early test of whether voters accept his revised economic messaging ahead of next year’s midterm elections.
