Tuesday, October 13, 2026 -A Russian strike on the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv has killed three people and injured at least 15 others after an attack destroyed part of a residential apartment building.
The strike hit the city’s Kholodnohirskyi district on the evening of October 12, 2026, collapsing an entire section of the building and trapping residents beneath the rubble. Emergency crews worked through the night to recover victims and search for survivors as the devastation left families displaced and communities in shock.
The attack also damaged nearby homes and residential infrastructure, while another strike in the city’s Shevchenkivskyi district caused fires involving a building and several vehicles. At least one emergency responder was injured while assisting rescue operations.
Ukrainian officials reported that the assault formed part of a wider overnight Russian missile and drone attack, with air defence teams working to intercept incoming threats as strikes were reported across multiple locations.
Rescue operations and damage assessments remain critical as authorities work to establish the full impact of the attacks. The latest casualties add to the mounting civilian toll of Russia’s war against Ukraine and underline the continuing danger facing people living in frontline and urban areas.
With residential buildings among the affected sites, urgent priorities include locating anyone still trapped, providing medical treatment to the injured and ensuring affected families receive emergency assistance.
