Palestinian girl killed by Israeli army fire in central Gaza

Thursday, October 22, 2026 - A seven-year-old Palestinian girl, Misk Hazem al-Dalou, was killed after being struck by Israeli army gunfire in central Gaza, according to Palestinian medical sources reported by WAFA on October 18, 2026.

The child sustained fatal wounds when Israeli forces opened fire toward tents sheltering displaced Palestinian families in the Maghazi refugee camp. Her death has renewed concerns about the safety of children and civilians living in temporary shelters amid continued violence across the Gaza Strip.

The incident came as further gunfire and shelling were reported in other parts of Gaza, including the al-Mawasi area near Rafah and areas northeast of Khan Younis. These reports highlight the continuing risks facing displaced families, many of whom have been forced to seek shelter in tents with limited protection.

According to Gaza's Health Ministry, thousands of Palestinians have been killed or injured in attacks since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025, underscoring the fragile security situation despite the truce.

Misk's death has once again drawn attention to the urgent need to protect children, ensure civilian safety and improve access to humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza. Displaced families continue to face insecurity as they struggle to find safe places to live amid ongoing hostilities.

International attention remains focused on the implementation of the ceasefire, accountability for civilian deaths and efforts to prevent further loss of life. For families already enduring displacement and uncertainty, protecting children and ensuring safe access to essential services remain immediate priorities.
