Thursday, October 1, 2026 - Lady A singer Charles Kelley has revealed that he has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare type of blood cancer.
The 45-year-old country star shared the news in a video alongside his wife, Cassie, explaining that doctors discovered the disease after he experienced several unexplained rib fractures and underwent a series of blood tests.
Kelley said he feels healthy and remains hopeful about his treatment, pointing to advances in multiple myeloma care in recent years.
He also said he plans to continue working while undergoing treatment, with Lady A preparing new music and scheduled Christmas performances in December. Multiple myeloma affects plasma cells in the bone marrow and can weaken bones, among other complications.
The singer said he wanted to be open with fans about his diagnosis, drawing on the same approach he has taken in discussing his sobriety journey. Kelley described the diagnosis as another hurdle and said he is taking the situation one day at a time.
For now, he intends to focus on treatment, his family and music while keeping fans updated when he feels it is appropriate.
