Thursday, October 1, 2026 - TikTok influencer Michelle Jamileth Macías Peñarrieta, known online as Queen Michelle, has been arrested in Colombia alongside her mother in connection with a multimillion-dollar money-laundering investigation.
The 23-year-old influencer is the daughter of José Adolfo Macías Villamar, better known as “Fito,” the former leader of Ecuador’s Los Choneros criminal organization. Michelle, who had more than 65 million TikTok followers, became known for singing and dancing videos as well as posts showing stacks of cash, luxury vehicles and expensive items.
Colombian authorities arrested Michelle and her mother, Inda Mariela Peñarrieta Tuárez, in Sabana de Torres on September 27 following an operation involving Colombian authorities, the FBI and Ecuadorian officials. The two women were wanted in Ecuador under Interpol Red Notices in connection with the “Blanqueo Fito” money-laundering investigation.
Authorities allege that money linked to Fito’s criminal organization was moved through companies, with investigators examining financial activity totaling more than $25 million. Michelle’s accounts reportedly showed hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial movements, while investigators also identified millions in unusual income linked to her mother.
The arrests have drawn renewed attention to Michelle’s social-media image, where displays of wealth contrasted sharply with the allegations now surrounding her finances. Michelle also pursued a music career and released songs connected to her father.
Following their arrests, the women were returned to Ecuador, where they are expected to face the money-laundering proceedings and be held at the maximum-security La Roca prison. The allegations remain subject to the legal process, and an arrest or accusation does not establish criminal guilt.
