4, including Lebanese soldier, injured in southern Lebanon blast

Thursday, October 1, 2026 - At least four people, including a Lebanese soldier, were injured Wednesday in the Nabatieh al-Fawqa area of southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese army said the soldier suffered serious injuries while troops were escorting residents to inspect their properties, while three civilians were also wounded.

The army initially reported that the injuries resulted from an Israeli strike targeting a military vehicle. However, after an investigation and engineering inspection, officials said the incident was caused by the explosion of a “suspicious object.”

Authorities have not yet disclosed the nature or origin of the object, and investigations are continuing.

The blast comes as tensions remain high in southern Lebanon despite a U.S.-brokered framework agreement signed in June.

The agreement calls for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the deployment of Lebanese forces in areas vacated by Israeli troops, but implementation has faced delays. The latest incident adds fresh pressure to an already fragile security situation in the south.
