Monday, September 21, 2026 - Simon Cowell has pulled out of upcoming Britain’s Got Talent auditions as he continues recovering from recent back surgery.
The 66-year-old TV mogul was due to take part in filming in Blackpool, but production plans are now being adjusted while he focuses on his recovery.
Cowell is expected to be temporarily replaced by a male comedian during the auditions, joining Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI on the judging panel.
Reports say producers are also considering moving around half of the six-day Blackpool shoot to January, potentially allowing Cowell to return and continue his role as head judge.
The sudden change puts fresh attention on the next series, which is currently scheduled to air on ITV in spring 2027.
Cowell has reportedly expressed disappointment at missing the auditions, but the immediate priority is his recovery, while producers work to keep filming on track with a guest judge stepping in.
