Tuesday, September 22, 2026 - Prince William and Princess Kate reportedly spent part of the weekend privately in Scotland following their official visit to the Isle of Bute.
The Prince and Princess of Wales travelled to the area around Royal Deeside after their public engagements, with Kate reportedly staying for two nights before quietly returning to Windsor on a commercial flight from Aberdeen on Saturday morning.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace has publicly confirmed the details of their private stay.
Their low-key visit came as attention remained focused on Earl Spencer’s new memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, which contains claims about conversations he says he had with the late King Charles following Princess Diana’s death.
Buckingham Palace responded to one of the allegations, saying that “fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory,” while Spencer has publicly maintained that his recollection is accurate.
William and Kate had been in Scotland for an official visit to Bute, where they carried out community engagements and were seen at Bute Shinty Club and Ettrick Bay. Their reported private stay afterwards has attracted fresh attention because King Charles was also in Scotland, staying at Birkhall on the Balmoral estate.
However, there has been no official confirmation that William and Kate spent time with the King during the weekend, leaving the details of their private movements largely undisclosed.
