Tuesday, September 22, 2026 - BBC Radio 2 presenter Bob Harris has shared an encouraging update on his ongoing cancer treatment, telling fans that the disease is now “getting back under control.”
The 80-year-old broadcaster said he was “thrilled” after speaking with his oncologist and learning that his treatment would continue. Harris revealed that he had been “a little bit worried” recently, but said the latest news had given him renewed optimism about the future.
The update comes after Harris revealed earlier this year that his prostate cancer had spread to his spine. He subsequently stepped down from his long-running BBC Radio 2 programmes, including Radio 2 Country and Sounds of the 70s, to concentrate on his health.
More recently, he began an intensive course of intravenous treatment after saying the cancer had been taking “more of a hold.”
Harris has continued to remain positive throughout his treatment and thanked supporters for their messages of encouragement. Following the latest news, he celebrated with his sons Dylan and Ben during a weekend in Oxfordshire.
The broadcaster has also urged people facing difficult circumstances to keep going, while his latest update has prompted an outpouring of supportive messages from fellow broadcasters, celebrities and fans.
