Wednesday, September 9, 2026 - A 34-year-old Iranian protester wounded during demonstrations in Qazvin has spent months undergoing secret medical treatment in an effort to save his badly damaged right leg. 


According to a report by Iran International, the man was shot on January 8 and has since undergone five major operations after a bullet severely damaged the bone in his lower leg. His family says the injury was so serious that the limb was nearly separated from the rest of his body.


The treatment has been carried out largely away from public view because the family fears he could be identified and detained. After suffering severe blood loss, he was taken secretly to a hospital, where he underwent surgery lasting about seven hours. 


His relatives later moved him out through a rear exit and continued his recovery at home, while doctors provided further treatment as infection and complications threatened the damaged leg.
