Tuesday, September 1, 2026 - Country music icon Dolly Parton has been laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Carl Dean, following a private family funeral in Nashville.
Parton, who died on August 25 at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer, was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, where Dean was laid to rest after his death in March 2025. The private ceremony was held in keeping with Parton’s wishes for an intimate farewell.
Parton and Dean were married for nearly 60 years and maintained a famously private relationship despite her global fame.
Their shared memorial now bears both of their names, marking the final resting place of a couple whose enduring marriage remained largely away from the public spotlight. Family and close friends gathered to say goodbye as fans around the world continued mourning the loss of one of country music’s most influential figures.
The private burial has not stopped the tributes celebrating Parton’s extraordinary legacy. Friends, relatives and fellow performers have continued sharing emotional memories, while plans to honor her work and philanthropy are already taking shape.
From her music and acting career to the millions of children reached through her Imagination Library, Parton leaves behind an impact that extends far beyond entertainment.
