Beckham shared an emotional message on Instagram, describing Gerber as “the kindest” and saying he and others would miss him deeply.
Gerber died on September 20 at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica, California. Authorities are investigating the death as a suspected overdose, while the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has deferred the official cause pending further testing. Police have said there is currently no indication of foul play.
The announcement has triggered an outpouring of grief from friends and celebrities, including Paris Hilton, who also described herself as “completely heartbroken.”
Gerber’s family has asked for privacy as investigations continue and those close to him mourn his sudden death.
