Thursday, July 2, 2026 - Hollywood legend Danny Glover has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, with his speech and memories affected.
The 79-year-old, best known for his role in Lethal Weapon,
spoke candidly about his diagnosis during an appearance on the Today
Show.
Shedding light on his health, he confirmed that he had been
living with the condition for multiple years, but only decided to go public
with it now.
In a new interview, he confirmed that he received his
diagnosis in 2023, and that discussing it is “in some sense acknowledging that
it's happening to you and at the same time that there are millions of people
suffering from it."
The star admitted to People Magazine that he is “still not
accepting in my mind all parts of it. There are the moments that you keep
remembering that validate the fact that you can remember stuff. And there are
moments I’ll never forget."
Danny is one of the biggest names in Hollywood, and has an
incredible catalogue of films behind him.
He made his screen debut in 1979's Escape from Alcatraz,
before landing roles in The Colour Purple, Iceman and Witness.
But it was his role as Sergeant Roger Murtaugh in 1987 flick
Lethal Weapon, that catapulted him to worldwide fame. The pair went on to
reprise their roles in a further three films - with the franchise also spawning
a TV series.
Some of his other hits include Predator 2, Antz, Saw and The
Rainmaker.
Danny's daughter, Mandisa - who he shares with ex-wife Asake
Bomani - explained that he still remembers much of his storied history, but
some of those memories are starting to go "missing".
