Wednesday, June 10, 2026- At least 13 people were killed and 14 others wounded after Pakistan’s military launched air strikes inside Afghanistan, according to a statement from the Afghan Taliban government on Wednesday.
The strikes reportedly hit residential areas in the Khost, Kunar and Paktika provinces, and those killed included 11 children, one woman and one elderly man, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said.
Pakistan has confirmed carrying out air operations along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, but described them as “precise and calibrated” strikes targeting militant hideouts and facilities linked to recent attacks inside Pakistan. Islamabad said its forces killed 26 militants in the operation, while rejecting claims the attacks intentionally hit civilians.
The airstrikes mark a renewed escalation in the long-running tensions between the two neighbouring countries, which have seen months of deadly clashes. Afghanistan’s authorities condemned the strikes as a violation of their airspace and sovereignty, heightening fears of further instability and civilian harm in the border region.
