Sunday, May 3, 2026-The remains recovered near a Tampa Bay area bridge have been formally identified as those of Nahida Bristy, the second missing doctoral student from the University of South Florida, authorities confirmed.
The discovery was made in a waterway near the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa, Florida, the same area where the remains of Bristy’s partner, Zamil Limon, were previously found.
Investigators say a fisherman initially located a bag containing human remains along the shoreline, prompting a recovery operation and forensic testing. DNA analysis and personal effects were used to confirm her identity.
Both Bristy and Limon, international students from Bangladesh, had been reported missing in mid-April. Police say both cases are now being treated as homicides, and a suspect identified as a former roommate of Limon is already in custody facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder and evidence tampering.
Authorities describe the case as a deeply disturbing and violent crime, and investigations continue into motive and timeline as the community mourns the loss of the two students.
