TRUMP reportedly dissatisfied with Iran’s plan to reopen Strait of Hormuz

Thursday, April 30, 2026-Donald Trump is reportedly not satisfied with a new proposal from Iran aimed at reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz, adding fresh friction to already fragile negotiations over one of the world’s most critical shipping routes.

According to multiple reports, Iran’s plan outlines steps to restore limited tanker traffic through the strait while linking the process to broader political and security conditions. U.S. officials, however, say Trump and his advisers view the proposal as incomplete, particularly because it does not fully resolve key U.S. demands tied to regional security and nuclear-related issues.

The White House has not publicly detailed specific objections, but internal discussions reportedly describe the offer as insufficient for lifting existing pressure measures.

The dispute underscores how central the Strait of Hormuz has become in the wider confrontation between Washington and Tehran. The waterway carries roughly a fifth of global oil shipments, making any disruption or reopening plan a matter of immediate global economic impact.

With tensions already high and diplomatic channels strained, the latest disagreement signals that even technical proposals on shipping access are now deeply entangled in broader geopolitical bargaining—with no quick resolution in sight.
