Israeli strike kills infant girl in south Lebanon during father's funeral

Monday, April 13, 2026-An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon has killed an infant girl during the funeral of her father, in one of the most tragic recent incidents reported amid the escalating conflict in the region.

The strike reportedly hit the village of Srifa in southern Lebanon while mourners were gathered for a family funeral, killing the baby girl, identified in reports as Taleen Saeed, along with several other relatives.

Witnesses said the attack occurred suddenly as the community assembled to bury her father, who had been killed earlier in the week during related violence. The child’s older sister, a seven-year-old girl, was also among those affected in earlier strikes, with reports indicating she had survived a previous attack but was injured during the ongoing hostilities.

The latest strike has intensified outrage and grief in Lebanon, where civilian casualties continue to mount as cross-border fighting expands and diplomatic efforts to halt the violence remain stalled.

Humanitarian groups and international observers have repeatedly warned that escalating strikes in populated areas are driving a deepening civilian crisis, with entire families being wiped out in a single wave of attacks. The incident has further heightened calls for restraint and renewed pressure for a ceasefire, as the conflict shows no clear sign of de-escalation.
