8 more Gazans killed by Israeli fire despite ceasefire, death toll nears 72,350

Wednesday, April 15, 2026-At least eight Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, despite the ongoing ceasefire agreement in place since October.

The ministry said hospitals also received 29 wounded in separate incidents, adding that Israeli operations continue to occur almost daily even under the truce. The latest deaths push the overall war toll in Gaza to around 72,350, reflecting the sustained impact of the conflict since it began in October 2023.

Health officials say the ceasefire has not fully halted violence on the ground, with repeated violations reported in different parts of the enclave.

While the ministry did not provide specific details on the circumstances of the latest casualties, it maintains that strikes and gunfire have continued to affect civilians, including areas near residential zones and infrastructure already heavily damaged by earlier fighting.

The situation underscores the fragility of the current ceasefire arrangement, as international mediators continue efforts to stabilize the truce and prevent further escalation.

Humanitarian conditions remain severe, with large parts of Gaza devastated and medical systems struggling to cope with the volume of casualties. Calls are growing for stronger enforcement of the ceasefire terms as the death toll and humanitarian toll continue to rise.
