TRUMP warns Iran 'time is running out' as US military builds up in Gulf

Thursday, January 29, 2026-In a stark escalation of tensions, President Donald Trump has issued a public ultimatum to Iran, warning that “time is running out” for Tehran to negotiate a nuclear deal or face severe consequences, even military action. Trump stressed urgency, urging Iran to come to the negotiating table with concrete commitments on halting nuclear weapons development. He framed the offer as a chance for a “fair and equitable deal NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS”, but coupled it with an unmistakable threat: failure to engage could trigger an American strike “far worse” than past military actions.

At the same time, the U.S. has significantly ramped up its military posture in the Gulf region, moving a “massive armada” led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln into position as a visible show of force. This fleet includes destroyers, combat ships, fighter jets, drones, and support aircraft, a deployment described as being “ready, willing, and able … with speed and violence, if necessary.” The buildup has heightened alert levels across the Middle East and sent global oil prices surging amid fears of a broader conflict.

Tehran’s leadership has responded defiantly, with senior officials asserting Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and reiterating their readiness to defend the country “with their fingers on the trigger” should hostilities begin. While some regional powers are pushing for a diplomatic de‑escalation, international concerns are mounting that miscalculations could spark a full‑blown confrontation. As the clock ticks, both sides face pressure at home and abroad to avoid conflict but the message from Washington is clear: the window for a negotiated solution is shrinking fast.
