Nvidia’s HUANG unsure whether China would accept its H200 chips
Thursday, December 4, 2025 -Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said on Wednesday that he is uncertain whether China would accept the company’s H200 artificial‑intelligence chips — even if U.S. restrictions on exporting them were lifted. The comment came after a meeting with Donald Trump, who is reportedly considering easing export control rules on advanced AI hardware.
Huang acknowledged that the approval of H200 sales to China could represent a big win for Nvidia. But he emphasized a key caveat: “We don’t know. We have no clue,” adding that Nvidia cannot simply ship a downgraded version of the chips — because if they were degraded, “they won’t accept that.”
That uncertainty reflects broader tensions between U.S. export‑control policy and China’s evolving approach to foreign AI technology. While U.S. regulators have tightened restrictions on high‑end chips like H200, Beijing has increasingly pushed domestic alternatives — complicating any potential reopening of the Chinese market for Nvidia.
