Doctor who gave MATTHEW PERRY ketamine is sentenced to 30 months
Thursday, December 4, 2025 -A doctor who admitted to distributing ketamine to Matthew Perry in the weeks leading up to his death was sentenced on Wednesday to 30 months in federal prison. He is the first among the five people convicted in connection with the actor’s 2023 overdose death to be formally sentenced.
The physician, Salvador Plasencia, ran a Calabasas urgent care clinic and pleaded guilty to four counts of distributing ketamine. Court records show that between late September and mid‑October 2023, he sold multiple vials — along with ketamine lozenges and syringes — to Perry and Perry’s assistant, despite knowing about Perry’s long history of addiction.
At sentencing, the judge stressed that while Plasencia did not supply the dose that was directly fatal, his repeated distribution of ketamine — often for cash — helped enable Perry’s addiction and contributed to the circumstances that led to his death. The sentence also included a fine, supervised release, and surrender of his medical license.
