North Korea's KIM JONG UN signals continued missile development in next 5 years

Saturday, December 27, 2025 -North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has made it clear that missile development will remain a central priority over the next five years, framing it as essential to strengthening national defense.

During recent visits to major munitions enterprises, Kim emphasized that missile and shell production is of “paramount importance” to the country’s deterrence strategy. Plans to modernize key defense facilities have been approved and are expected to be formally presented at an upcoming ruling party congress, where the next five-year national blueprint will be finalized.

The announcement comes as North Korea continues to highlight progress across multiple military programs. Kim has overseen developments ranging from new missile systems to broader weapons manufacturing upgrades, signaling a sustained push to expand both offensive and defensive capabilities.

These actions indicate that missile advancement is not a short-term response to regional tensions, but a long-term strategic commitment embedded in the country’s future planning.

Security analysts across the region are closely monitoring the signals from Pyongyang, as continued missile development could shape diplomatic dynamics and military readiness in Northeast Asia.

With Kim reinforcing his focus on production capacity and technological advancement, the next five years are likely to see ongoing weapons testing and modernization efforts that keep North Korea at the center of global security discussions.
