Indiana House releases draft congressional map that could net republicans 2 seats

-The state House Republicans in Indiana have unveiled a draft congressional map that would give the GOP an advantage in all nine of the state’s congressional districts — potentially netting the party two additional U.S. House seats.

The draft plan notably reshapes the state’s two Democratic-leaning districts, currently held by Reps. Frank Mrvan and André Carson.

Under the proposal, the area around Indianapolis — Marion County — would be divided into four separate districts, significantly diluting Democratic strength. At the same time, the northwestern district held by Rep. Mrvan would be redrawn to include more conservative areas, shifting the political balance toward Republicans.

Supporters argue the map reflects changing demographics and geographic distribution, but critics say it’s a partisan maneuver that undermines fair representation. For now, the map must still clear additional legislative hurdles before becoming law — and uncertainty remains about whether it will pass through the state Senate.
